  • I only want basic local phone service Help!?

Posted by admin on March 14th, 2010 and filed under local phone service | 2 Comments »

We can no longer afford phone service, all we need is local calling basic who has the cheapest rates?

There is a big secret in the telephone industry, there is something called the tariff rate or metered calling. Phone companies do not advertise this. You have to insist with customer "no-service". This is regulated bu your Public Service Commission, check with them to see what your local provider is required to offer. You should be able to get local service with no frills for around $20.00 a month.

    Good Luck

Fellow Canadians - need some help with Home Phone service providers?

Posted by admin on March 10th, 2010 and filed under home phone service | 4 Comments »

I live in Ontario Canada, and would like to get away from Bell Telephone service. I find them to be very expensive and the customer service is terrible. We cannot get cable where we live, we have satellite TV and I believe DSL internet. I’ve looked into Magicjack, and comwave so far. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for cheap home phone providers? Has anyone actually used Magic jack?
    Much appreciated!

The problem with MagicJack is it is entirely dependent on having your computer running all the time, otherwise you won’t be able to make or take phone calls. To call it a home phone is a bit stretching it.

Comwave is a better option and quite affordable. For $10 a month you can get a basic home-phone service with unlimited local calling. It is worth noting that this is a VoIP service which means the calls are routed over your Internet connection to save money, but in every other way it’s just like a normal home phone.

Viatalk is another highly recommended VoIP service.
Edit: Sorry, I made an error. ViaTalk does not service Canada. You can still get outbound calling, but your incoming number would be for some city in the U.S.
For Canadian VoIP providers, see here:
    http://voipchoices.com/voip-canada.html

This is what I was saying about ViaTalk:

For about $10.75 a month (on a yearly contract) you can get unlimited calling to Canada and the USA as well as all the extras (Caller ID, Call Waiting, VoiceMail) included.

As a limited time promotional offer, Via Talk will also include a second phone line free with your $10.75/mo service. That means you can have two independent phone calls at the same time.

As another bonus offer, you also get 60 minutes of free calling to most popular International destinations including Australia and the United Kingdom.

I live in lafayette louisiana and i just want basic home phone service! That’s it!

Call your local Southwestern Bell company and ask. Louisianna PUC still insists that local TelCo’s provide basic telephone (called POTS for Plain Old Telephone Service) for people who want it.

What all goes into buying a mobile home as far as costs?

Posted by admin on March 2nd, 2010 and filed under mobile | 3 Comments »

My friend and I are considering moving into a mobile home instead of an apartment next year. The initial cost of buying and owning the home will be $5000 and the lot rent will be $268 a month. Beyond paying that initial amount to own the home and our rent+utilities, what other costs might we run into in buying the home? Do mobile homes have mortgage rates if you own the home? I dont know much about this at all and I’m looking for as much help as I can get!

If you are buying the mobile home outright with cash, then naturally, you won’t have a loan payment. If you are needing financing, then a mobile home that is not permanently attached to the land is not considered real property, and as such a mortgage loan would not apply. This would be considered a consumer secured loan, and, as such, the interest rates would be higher.

He is not a gold member, and he sent me a company certificate that he has, that explains that the registrar of comapnies for england and wales hereby certifies that TELECOM ADVERTISING & PROMOTIONS LTD is this day incorporated under the Companies Act 1999 as a private company & that the company is limited. Has anyoen come in contact with this person before and can tell me there experience.
Should I trust him or not??

All the help would be greatly appreciated. If oyou no of anywhere i can buy a blackberry bold for cheap, please let me no also.
    Thanks

Yup, those are both just your standard order UK scams. Don’t respond to either of them.

Just save your money and buy a blackberry bold from a reputable dealer in person - otherwise you’re going to get scammed. You’ll either receive nothing or will receive some fake ‘knock-off’ version of a blackberry bold.

alibaba.com is becoming quite well known as ’scam-central’ these days. Just do a Google search for ‘alibaba.com scam’ and you’ll see . . .
