What can I do about problem with local phone service?

Posted by admin on December 22nd, 2010 and filed under local phone service | 3 Comments »

    I live in a tiny town that has phone service that is provided in this town. Most people have cell phones and have dropped this local mess… I have a land line and the service is making me very frustrated..I can be talking and the calls are dropped, calls won’t go through with calling card and the line is out several times a week..Others and myself and other complain but they just say "WE will check on it"!! It is like we are in the middle of the 20th century instead of the 21st century..What can be done about this? Who can I complain to without this antique phone company getting mad and dropping me all together?..NO other land line is available in this secluded area.Any help you can offer will be so appreciated!!..Thank you..:}
I goofed up when I talked about myself and others complaining..sorry..This phone has me in a frenzy!!
**chokes fredric, laughs, and then hugs sweet contact**..:)

I’m afraid you are victim of a situation that nobody has control over. Your little towns telephone system has lost subscribers hence revenue. No money means little funds for maintenance and upgrades. Talk to your town council, someone or group is responsible overseeing the telephone service. In your shoes I would contact your states public service commission or whatever they call the branch of your states government that regulates utilities and see if they have jurisdiction over your towns telephone service. Since this service is community owned they may not, but on the off chance they do, then you file a complaint with them. The FCC maybe able to help but I have my doubts, but it will not hurt to contact them as well. Your community telephone company maybe be getting some federal funding. The simple solution for you might to get a cell phone. You can keep your old number. Good luck

Is it safe to give mobile and phone numbers to alert pay and liberty reserve?

When you sign-up or create account they ask you for phone or mobile number. Is it safe to give mobile or phone numbers to create account on alert pay or liberty reserve?

You have to be very careful when doing that because you may be opening up your cell phone for spam and unwanted text messages….. newsletters, updates, and special offers. Make sure you read all of their fine print.

Was the competitive impact of deregulation of telecommunication on business a major impact or a minor impact?

Posted by admin on December 10th, 2010 and filed under telecommunication | 2 Comments »

I’m looking for some relevent information regarding the impact of deregulation of telecommunication on bussinesses. Has it been major or minor?

It was huge. Before deregulation, ATT had a governemnt enforced monopoly on telecomm service. You had your choice of two colors of phones, and service was expensive. Competition brought many more choices and greatly lower costs. Think of all the telecomm companies there are today– instead of one.

What mobile phone companies are popular in Norway?

Posted by admin on December 8th, 2010 and filed under mobile | 2 Comments »

I’m studying abroad in Norway for a year and I was wondering what companies are used most often for cell phones there. Like here in America we use Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile probably the most. I have a T Mobile phone that would be great for over there, it has the Norwegian letters and all, but I need to know if it’d be good or bad to sign up for T Mobile there. I want something that won’t be out of service a lot.

Telenor is the biggest and has the best service. I have an international plan through them, which in itself is a lot, but it makes it more affordable calling family back in the States. Once in Norway, go to any electronics store (such as Euronics or Elkjøp) which sell cell phones and plans (including pay-as-you-go). They help you with a variety of companies, not like the states where you go to one store for one company. If you don’t get a satisfactory answer or help on options from one person, go to another or another store. Because they sell mobiles and plans at general electronics stores, not everyone who works in one specializes in knowing everything about it.

As far as using your T Mobile phone over here: I’m not sure if there is a chance that they work together as companies–most likely not, but check with T Mobile to be sure. If not, ask T Mobile if you can get the code to unlock your phone so you can use the same phone over here. It usually requires having a plan on a phone for over a year before it can be unlocked. Then they will give you a series of codes that can only be tried up to a certain amount of times before it is permanently locked. They might send the codes in email, once you have requested it. Once a phone is unlocked, you are free to use any SIM card you want in it. Companies are usually reluctant to do this, but it is very possible, as long as you aren’t under further contract.

The deciding factor in using a foreign phone in Europe, however, is finding out which bandwidth it operates on. If your phone is a quadband phone, it will work over here. They operate on two different frequencies over here than they do in the states. If your phone is only dualband, it will only work in Oslo, at best. Check with T-Mobile if your particular phone model is quadband.

What mobile phone is used in the movie dead man running?

Posted by admin on December 2nd, 2010 and filed under mobile | 1 Comment »

Can someone please tell me what mobile phone is used by Nick (Tamer) in the movie Dead Man Running?

The mobile phone is shown in the movie at somewhere around 01:11:14, almost near the ending of the movie. The brand of the mobile phone is not visible, thus I can’t figure out which phone it is.

    Thanks for your help!

It looks like an Ericsson to me - although, I can’t say I have ever seen it before. It is a notice phone though.
