Which telephone service providers can block local/long, international, and private calls?

Posted by admin on April 23rd, 2011 and filed under local telephone service | 2 Comments »

    Hello,

Thanks for checking out my question.

I am looking for a telephone service provider - traditional or VOIP - that can block local/long distance and international calls when that caller’s number is in a given list of numbers OR when that call is from a private number.

My definition of "block" is when the call can’t reach your phone nor your voice-mail.

Anyone know of a provider that has such a service?

I am with Sprint, and they can block local/long distance phone numbers from a given list but NOT private calls, which is kind of stupid since the caller can simply block their numbers when calling. Hence, I am looking for another provider.

Thanks in advance. Any info would be much appreciated.
Also, are there any VOIP providers that have SMS/text service?

My VoIP provider has anonymous call rejection and you can create a list of numbers to block.
It seems that just about anybody with VoIP service can do that, but maybe not. Try http://www.8×8.com but be sure to check out phone power.

What would Prog Neo-Comms do if everyone who paid taxes cleaned accounts & refused to give them any more money?

In protest for all the control they are trying to take over our lives and the nasty way they act? A tax strike, people who actually pay taxes voting with their own money and saying to hell with the parasites, they are getting cut off! They can’t jail us all : )

We could in stead pay taxes to our own government, build defenses, and tell them to go strait to hell with their nasty garbage. They would shrivel and die like the Wicked Witch of the West when the water hit. Reality would be our bucket of water, watch the parasites melt!

pls suggest me some good courses in engineering which have good job opportunities…?

What are the Pros and Cons of Vonage home phone service?

Posted by admin on April 9th, 2011 and filed under home phone service | 1 Comment »

I was thinking about switching my phone service to Vonage and I was hoping people that have or have had Vonage could leave me some feedback so I can make my final decision.
    Thanks!

    Pros:
    - The audio quality of Vonage’s VoIP service is very good, if you have a good internet connection. You should measure your jitter and packet loss here: http://www.pingtest.net/
    - Vonage’s uptime is admirable. Rarely are there reports about Vonage being "down".
    - If you move or go traveling, just take your Vonage device with you and plug it in.
    - Vonage is probably cheaper than your phone company and may offer better packages and features.

    Cons:
    - If your internet connection stops working, so does your phone.
    - If you want Vonage to work for all the phones in your house, you have to set it up yourself. See http://michigantelephone.workbench.net/ for good instructions about how to do that.
    - Vonage has lots of hidden fees. The price you see on their website is not the price you pay. Expect $5.00-$10.00 more per month than they advertise, depending on where you live. This makes Vonage more expensive than many competing VoIP providers.
    - Vonage isn’t known for being an upstanding citizen. For example, they were recently the subject of a 32-state investigation into their business practices.
