  • I just changed my mobile number, what is the easiest way to tell all my contacts about it?

Posted by admin on May 27th, 2011 and filed under mobile | 2 Comments »

I haaaaaaaate Changing my mobile number, I keep carrying around two mobile phones cuz everyone keeps calling my old number. I have to verbally tell each caller to save my new number, but there are in the middle of something so naturally they don’t do it :S

Sms is a hassle and soooooo old school. I wish I could just broadcast it, but not everybody has the same mobile.

Please tell me how to tell everyone about my new number and stop them from calling the old one!

    On your old phone.
Send a text message with your new number and just add all your contacts to the list of people to send it to.

It will automatically copy the message for everyone.

[Edit: oh yeah, do what diver said and just call the company and keep your old number. I swapped from two completely different phone plans, different phone provider, and different phone handset and I kept my old number.]

Is it acceptable to telephone outsourced customer service centers to talk about the local culture?

I would like to learn more about India from people who live there. Is it acceptable to ring up customer service and ask the technician in India about his country?

No. If you really want to learn more about India you should join groups that cater towards learning about different cultures. Calling someone on the phone for the specific reason of asking them about their country, it is not only unnecessary (on their end) but it could be a grounds for dismissal. Their job is to help you in something that they are trained to handle. Asking anything otherwise is a waste of their time, and it makes you look bad. Think about it. Its just like asking a 911 operator "Should I wear blue dress socks or stick with black?" It doesn’t make sense because it has nothing to do with their job description. Go to the proper place to learn more, or read about it online or go to the library.

Is giving control of the internet to the telecoms and content providers a sure path to censorship?

    Get smashed.

You mean giving control of the internet to the people who build it and bring it to you doorstep at prices that nearly every American can afford? The travesty. What’s next? Telling 7-11s across the nation what "content" they are required to provide? Radio stations? Hell, why not churches?

    Hey Stephen,

I would suggest that you find a reliable company that has been the business for a long time. I personally use Baytech Plastics. I really like their Telecommunication Equipment Manufacturing Service. If you need more information on this service, I put a link to that page in the description below.

    Electronics & Communication(ECE) –or– Electronics & Instrumentation(EIE)?

Posted by admin on May 13th, 2011 and filed under telcom communications | 4 Comments »

which one of the above two is better (or easier) ? i simply cant decide which one to chose…

    * Is EIE a more tough subject than ECE ? i’m nt so strong in Maths.
    * What are the opportunities ( job/ higher studies) after EIE ?
    * What r the tough subjects in EIE ? (Like……..DSP & Control system in ECE)
    * I am good at PLCs & SCADA (Indst. automation).

(My Qual. is diploma in Electronics ‘n Telcom…..& now I want to go for B.Tech.)
    pls help..
    =/

As you’ve done you diploma in E&T I recommend you take ECE without another thought.
Its not a matter of what being tough….your comfort and interest is what dat matters.
As you’ve already done E&T you would have a basis to travel forward to ECE.
You’ve also got a bunch of job opportunities doing ece, where you can choose from software or core.
Inquire more about EIE and take the right decision..
    All the best.

Is Centurylink intertnet and home phone service a good choice?

Posted by admin on May 8th, 2011 and filed under home phone service | 1 Comment »

My family just ordered internet and home phone service from Centurylink. We really only got Century link because we live out in the "sticks" and no other services will come out here. We have already had a problem and it hasn’t even been fully set up. So,I was just wondering if Centurylink was a good choice and I wanted to ask if you have had any problems or if you have heard of any problems with this company.

    Thanks!! :)
I have had no problems in 3 years with Centurylink. The service is always on time in the 4 hour window they give you and the repairman are polite.
If you live in a lightning prone area, pay the extra $5 a month for the inside wire maint. plan. It will save you a lot if you have a lightning hit. I’ve been hit three times in Central Florida.
Get at least the 3 meg dsl line if you plan to stream movies.
