  • What exactly will i be doing as a field radio operator.?

    I am joining the Marine Corps and have chosen 0621, Field radio operator.I know i’m in charge of operating the radio in the field (Duh), Setting up comms and such but i haven’t found any where online that gives a real clue as to what equipment i use and such.Any help fellow yahoo-ers?

    No one can say what you will be doing because you can end up in various unit types.

      Depends on the equipment you are operating. Many are mobile radios that are carried on your back. Some are units with generators and many components. The equipment I operated was mounted in a truck with a large antenna on top. They must have changed the MOS number system since Communications was the 2500 series when I was in.

      well your expected life span in combat is only 5.6 seconds so not much. but you will need to know frequencies and transmission types. your also going to learn a very small amount of data stuff.
