We have a local phone line through Verizon in Indiana.
When we try to connect to AOL using dialup, it fails. We were told by AOL that Verizon may be blocking access to AOL.
Is this true and is there a way around it?
Are they blocking IP addresses or specific ports?
Thanks!
What a bunch of garbage. AOL tech was trying to brush you off or else has no knowledge of how dial up works. There is no reason for verizon to block you from a dialed number. They would be liable to huge fines if caught. If you know the modem number is good from your area, then I would suspect a bad protocol in the AOL software. Have never liked a company that is a portal for internet and forces controlling software on your computer to do what is simple items with other companies. Since AOL mail is now free, dump the service and go high speed or at lease change to a better dial up provider.
